Did you know that babies can be taught how to go to sleep?
We are teaching our babies right from our very first experiences with them as resolve themselves in their child sleep habits.
For example if we have breastfeed our children and they fall to sleep in our arms then that is how they learn to go to sleep. If this is repeated often enough with the same result then our expectation is that our child's sleep habits are tied into our breastfeeding. This becomes also the expectation, or habit of child-need be breast fed bedtime.
So it stands to reason that if we rock in their cradle, push their pram or swaddle and rock them in our arms to make them sleep, then we're giving our baby sleep habits in place.
Here is another thought-if we feed them, change them their comfort and then lay them in their cradle for sleep, have experience of routines and expectation of this and learn to solve themselves in their sleep, without the need for external associations with their sleep habits.
Is sometimes parents who need to rethink the way that they are setting routines and habits for their children. it is very difficult to change a way with reason to do something, if you believe that works. This is very true to get babies to sleep.
Often first models are continually reinforced by parents when new and easier ways of dealing with the same situation could be introduced.
Most parents have experienced sleep deprivation during the first weeks, and this lack of sleep becomes a frightening idea for us we are then motivated. from this fear to maintain a routine that we think works for our child rather than understanding that we could set in motion a new and better habit to help our children to associate sleep with stems alone. Before we adopt this approach, the better our baby sleep habits become.
After about six months when the solids are usually introduced, children tend to sleep for longer periods. This is the time to introduce a procedure clear, solid and consistent, with a ritual of going to sleep soundly around bedtimes.
Children's sleep habits
Introduce some rituals families around bedtime routine.
* The goal of being consistent
* Start a quiet activity around the child.
* Disable any strong or raucous music or television.
* Enjoy a moment of calm, yet playful bath.
* Follow this with a peaceful together reading time.
* Perhaps some sweet Lullaby singing, invent your own!
* Then a ritual of Goodnight hugs and kisses.
Talk with your child and say what you expect from them.
"Now is dark and all the children are asleep. is now resting in your cradle and have a great sleep all night."
Using a calm, clear tone of voice and following with calm but firm action means that your child knows what to expect from you, when they expect and how to respond in return.
Much about setting routines and schedules in place for your child has to do with creating their own expectations in the first place.
I encourage you to become clear in your car on custom routines sleep as you start to teach your child sleep habits consistency and they will learn to sleep all night.
